This is another formation which I wish to share with you. I hope you will like it. Modesty aside, if I am not mistaken, my batting winning average using this formation is around 90%. Well, of course, luck will play a very important role specially in the opening game but if one will really get to master how to use this formation, then it will cause headaches to a lot of opponents. And again, with the stroke of luck, this will be a very formidable formation to smash a blitzkrieg by the opponent if it happens that he attacks on the strong side. And of course, this formation may be used either way, as a very effective defense mechanism BUT with full options for an offensive counterstrike!
This is the formation: (which may be inverted, of course, as one has to decide which side he prefers to be stronger, anyway, in this particular case, the strong side is the left side)
from the left: Front row : Private, 5Star, captain, col., 2 star, 3 star, 1st lt., major, 1 star
Middle row : (blank), Private, 4 star, spy, private, private, spy, 2nd lt. (blank)
Last row : Lt.Col, (blank), Flag, (blank), sgt., (blank), Private, (blank), Private
If the opponent eats the private on the left side, first row, then the 5 star will test that opponent; if the 5 star wins, then he can act as a spy, if split, then the 4 star is nearby to make sure that the flag is amply protected.
If the opponent happens to make a blitz and usually, if he eats first that private with a spy, then the game is half won coz the 5 star can wipe out at least 4 more pieces in that area.
If the opponent makes a blitz on the weaker side, by eating the 1 star on the right corner, the major should counter and test the piece in front of him to make it appear that the 2nd lt is a spy. And if that first attqacking piece happens to be a spy, then you ahve 2 privates at the bottom row. The other spy can easily be pulled to reinforce the weak side as it is not too far, while the 5 and 4 star can do a counter attack, even with the assistance of the Lt. Col. at the bottom left, to try a counter flag across.
On the middle of the board, if the 2 star will beat the piece in front of him, then the opponent will think that it is of higher rank and he will never think that the pieces beside are as strong as the 3 star and the Col.; however, if the 2 star is beaten on the middle encounter, it is of great chance that the 3 star and the Col. will then beat the pieces fronting them.
Try to feel first which part your opponent will advance. If he advance on your strong side, just let him as it will be better to advance the pieces on your weaker side to give an impression. So once he attacks your strong side, it is like getting candy from a baby.
Once the battle ensues on your strong side and you think that chances are 50/50, then you may even move your flag nearer to the middle part thereby positioning somewhere between the 2 spies. The essence of this formation is to make the flag secured as much as possible.
Well, as I keep on saying, luck will truly play a big factor especially in the opening salvos. With a little luck and the expertise to react to movements as the game progresses, this formation even has all the potentials for bluffing as it is also somewhat unorthodox, which will make your opponents harder to analyze your pieces. And as the game progresses, it is of very high probability that by the time your opponent realyzes the strength of your pieces, then one thing is for certain, he had been depleted of high ranking officers, a lot of them.
And the rest is elementary.... Bossings..........
Hope that this will make your gamne progress in great leaps, specially for those who are on the mid to almost expert level. Enjoy guys!
Always a pleasure to be of assistance.
